Anthony Carter
Anthony is a Special Counsel in Sparke Helmore's Government Services team. He has extensive experience in litigation, administrative appeals, commercial disputes, and advisory work covering a wide range of jurisdictions and industries.
His experience includes undertaking advisory and litigation work for various Government clients, including the Australian Trade Commission, Department of Immigration and Citizenship, Centrelink, Departments of Family, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations and the Department of Defence. He also represents the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority in prudential disqualification proceedings involving senior managers, directors and officers of general insurers.
Anthony previously represented the United Kingdom Department of Trade and Industry in drafting and implementing a compensation injury scheme for former UK coalminers resident in Australia and New Zealand suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disorder and other respiratory conditions.
Anthony has experience in the High Court, Federal Court, Federal Magistrates Court, Administrative Appeals Tribunal, Supreme Court of NSW, District Court of NSW, Dust Diseases Tribunal, and various other courts and tribunals. He regularly undertakes advocacy in the Federal Court, Federal Magistrates Court and the AAT.
He is experienced in the use of alternative dispute resolution processes and is a qualified LEADR mediator.
